  3. Maurer & Saint Phalle
  4. Executive in Red Chair

This performance will last about an hour, and is free and open to the public.  Please join me!

Carnival of the Invasive Species

The premier of "The Carnival of the Invasive Species" went VERY well!  You may view a video of the performance by clicking on my Vimeo link:

The text for the final movement, "Pioneers," was taken from the poem of that title by Walt Whitman.  The photo in the final movement is of my grandparents, father & his siblings.  My grandparents were homesteaders in northeastern Montana in the early 1900's.

"Carnival of the Invasive Species"

I received a commission from MacPhail Center for Music funded by the McKnight Foundation to write a piece, and the project I chose was a percussion trio with clarinet.  The piece is titled, "Carnival of the Invasive Species" and has six short movements.  The premiere of this work will be featured on a  MacPhail Faculty Recital on Friday, April 1st, 2016 at 7:30 p.m.  This event is free to the public!

Wild Swans--a State Arts Board Project

The Wild Swans is a presentation in story, song and dance of Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairy tale about 11 princes, 1 princess and, of course, a wicked step-mother.  Christina Baldwin, singer and narrator, will be joined by a six piece musical ensemble and a cast of professional and student dancers living with and without disabilities.  Original music has been composed by Sarah Miller, and the dance is being choreographed by Gretchen Pick and the Young Dance All Abilities class.

Performances will be on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 4:30 p.m. at MacPhail Center for Music, 501 S. 2nd St., Minneapolis, MN and Sunday, Nov. 23 at 6 p.m. at the Southern Theater, 1420 S. Washington Ave., Minneapolis, MN.  There is a $5 - 10 suggested donation at the door.

Sarah Miller is a fiscal year 2014 recipient of an Artist Initiative grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature; and by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
